Bug-A-Day Five and Counting

Head on view of Yellow-Collared Scape Moth, Robert Rafton
Here are a couple of views of a Yellow-Collared Scape moth. These are daytime moths and they eat pollen in butterfly-like fashion.

These should not be confused with the very similar-looking Virginia Ctenucha moth, which we've previously encountered here at Toronto Wildlife. Oddly though, both specimens were shot in almost exactly the same spot near the Don River. It must a special hangout area for cool-looking hipster moths.
